"אם יש אידיאולוגיה בעבודה שלי, אז היא הומניסטית. חלק מהמבקרים של העבודות שלי טענו שהן לא באמת פוליטיות מכיוון שאני פועלת כקפיטליסטית בהן. אני ערה לנקודה הזו”, מספרת רוטנברג. הדמויות שמאכלסות את סרטיה הן לרוב נשים בעלות מאפייני גוף יוצא דופן, מופרז וגרוטסקי לרוב – שרירניות, גבוהות, מתאבקות, דוגמניות פטיש ועוד. רוטנברג מוצאת את השחקניות שלה באתרי אינטרנט, ובהתאם מפתחת את השתלשלות הסרט שלה על פי הייחוד או החריגות שבהן. היא מודעת לדילמה שעולה באשר לשימוש בנשים המשכירות את מוזרות גופן לטובת הסרט, ובעצם, מבודדות או מדגישות מאפיינים מסוימים של הגוף על מנת להפוך לאובייקט, חפץ.
